Shevaré
BIO
Shevaré is a multidisciplinary artist working across costume design, visual art, poetry, fashion, and education. Her work brings together art, fashion, theatre, history, and storytelling, allowing her to explore different ways of telling stories through clothing, imagery, words, and performance.
In 2022, Shevaré received the Emerging Artist Award from the Arts and Education Council, followed by the St. Louis Visionary Award for Emerging Artist in 2023. These experiences encouraged her to continue expanding her work and exploring new ways to create.
Whether she is designing costumes, creating mixed-media artwork, writing poetry, or developing an original project like The Adventures of Wynk, curiosity is at the center of Shevaré’s process. She is especially interested in history, fashion, Black culture, and bringing attention to stories that may have been overlooked or untold.
